Almond Slices

A teatime treat that keeps and impresses

  1. Line an oblong tin 11'' x 7'' with shortcrust pastry
  2. Spread it with some good sharp jam, blackcurrant is best
  3. Cream 4 oz butter, 4 oz sugar; beat in 2 eggs; fold in 3 oz ground almonds and 1 oz Plain flour
  4. Spread evenly over tin and then sprinkle on flaked almonds at least 1 oz.

Cook No 4/150, 30 to 35 minutes.

Cut into squares and eat cold
